I have arrived in HongKong after a flurry of activity not the least being the number of What’sapp messages posted by some of the family already here! Dinners, lunches, food, museums etc which made it so hard to keep up with all the planning.
I had played Lawn Bowls on Saturday, attended the steak night after( excellent steak at fantastic price) and then a celebration of life at Maffra for our friend Jan Healy.
She was an amazingly capable, fun person with the most incredible ability to keep everyone connected. There was a huge turnout of friends from all walks of her life.
That night I hefted my new wheelie suitcase down to the station and set off toTullamarine about 7.30pm. All went smoothly until Jonathan alerted me to the fact I had not asked Regina about minding Marlo while I am away. Oops! Major slip up there. I felt really bad but they were able to sort it out.

I was glad I arrived early because it was a full flight and the Cathay Pacific area was massed with people. Fortunately I had checked in online, though pretty late ( in the bus to the airport!) so I had to accept a seat way up the back but in the aisle as I like. Advantage was we loaded first and it wasn’t a shambles getting off. Also food came quickly!!
A midnight flight and supper at about 1.00 am was new so I wasn’t tempted to binge on movies. I actually slept for a few hours and then we were here. The airport here is so efficient. I wasn’t in any hurry because I was hoping to meet my brother-in-law Michael who was arriving from Brisbane a bit later. It turned out another cousin Angela and her husband were on the same flight. We took the train together and parted ways at HongKong station. Michael and I shared a cab which dropped me down the road from my accommodation because they can’t stop outside! I had to push my suitcase uphill to The Helena May, a ‘genteel’ women’s club (hang over from colonial times).

our room
My sister-in-law is a member and suggested we stay, but she isn’t here! I can understand why. Three codes to get into the place! I have taken a photo because I probably won’t be able to remember them. Having said that, the room is pretty generous by HK standards and we have a kitchenette and use of washing machines plus very reasonable in price. It is quaint.
Now to sort out the esim I think I have mucked up. It always seems easy until you try! Sheila Vassie, a cousin from Uk/ Switzerland is arriving this afternoon. We are sharing so I want to be around to meet and greet.
